HOA Board Application
Your interest in serving on the Kensington Grove Homeowners Board of Directors is greatly appreciated. All residents in good standing are invited to actively participate in the care and enhancement of our community. Joining the HOA board is a wonderful opportunity to share your ideas and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our neighborhood.
Why It’s Valuable to Serve on the HOA Board
Serving on the HOA Board is not just a commitment—it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in your neighborhood. Here are compelling reasons to consider serving:
- Shape the community’s direction. As a board member you have a real influence on decisions about maintenance, aesthetic standards, common area improvements, and policies that affect everyone in the neighborhood.
- Ensure good stewardship of shared resources. You help ensure that dues are used responsibly, that common areas are well maintained, and that long-term planning (repairs, reserves, etc.) is sound and sustainable.
- Serve your neighbors. Many homeowners might not have time or inclination to engage deeply with community governance. By stepping up, you fill a needed service role on behalf of your neighbors.
- Promote cohesion and pride. An effective board can foster trust, communication, and community spirit—making our neighborhood a more pleasant place to live.
- Leave a legacy. The projects and policies you help put in place could benefit current and future homeowners long after your term ends.
Your role on the board is substantive and rewarding!
What Are the Expectations?
The Board of Directors consist of at least five (5), but not more than seven (7) members: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and three additional Board members.
Board members are expected to attend one evening meeting per month, typically the first Monday of the month. Meetings may last up to two hours. Discussion topics include managing the care and maintenance of common areas, reviewing homeowner property improvement requests, and promoting ideas to enhance our community.
Board members should have access to a computer. Between meetings, communications are handled via an assigned HOA email account and, if a decision is required on a homeowner’s request or other topic before the next meeting, Board members review the paperwork online and vote via a private portal in order to provide a timely response.
Terms of Service
Elected Board members serve a term of two (2) years.
If, after an election, a vacancy should remain, the seat could be filled by an invited volunteer who is appointed to serve only one (1) year, or until the next annual election.
